The Jörney Café
A lifeline to the local public
Em established The Jörney Café (back in October 2025) to provide our small town with a much-needed community space. A place where old friends can meet & young eyes can be filled with awe.
For The Jörniverse, it also offers us a connection to the locals. Here, game devs can grab their coffee or tea and kick back for a bit, just like the rest of Jörn. Then everyone can understand what’s cooking in the game village above, rather than it becoming a gated mystery.
We also plan to run open days to demystify game dev as much as possible and inspire the youngsters. We’ll likely keep on hosting indie dev events with Arctic Game & bring Skellefteå teams here too.
The Jörney Café
As well as the game dev retreat, Em & Harry run a cat-themed gaming café. Here we serve Swedish fika (sweet coffee breads) to locals, with many coming from afar to enjoy our nerdy haven.
Visitors can enjoy our arcade, play newer consoles like Nintendo Switch 2, or sit back with one of our many board games or puzzles. And maybe walk away with a quirky find from our humble shop.
Importantly for game devs, we can offer you free coffee, tea and arcade access if you’re paying for a Private Single Room or Shared Double Room at the Jörniverse, or have otherwise opted in to our All-Inclusive deal programme.
